The University of Alabama, in partnership with the Black Faculty and Staff Association, will host the 2022 Dr. Trudier Harris Black Scholar Bowl, Sat. Feb. 5. Five students will compete for UA. Hosted by UA's Black Faculty and Staff Association, this year's event will feature teams from The University of Alabama, Stillman College, Alabama State University, Alabama A&M and several community colleges competing in a series of questions centered on Black history.

University of Alabama cheerleading took home its third Division 1A all-girl national championship at the 2022 UCA and UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship. The Crimson Tide's co-ed squad also earned a runner-up finish and the dance team finished sixth.

In December 2021, Lt Beckman graduated from UA with a BA in Criminal Justice, and commissioned in the United States Air Force as a Security Forces Officer.

In December 2021, Lt Jenkins graduated from UA with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and commissioned in the United States Air Force as a Developmental Engineer.

The University of Alabama awarded 2,362 degrees during its fall commencement ceremonies on Dec. 10-11, 2021. With a beautiful campus, dozens of challenging academic programs, expert faculty and numerous opportunities for service and growth, The University of Alabama is a place where legends are made. The campus gives students the opportunity to interact with faculty performing cutting-edge research.

A total of 453 students enrolled in UA Early College during the fall 2021 term at The University of Alabama were named to the director's list with an academic record of 3.6 (or higher).

This spring, 165 University of Alabama students are receiving hands-on, innovative and advanced educational experiences with dozens of companies and organizations across the United States through UA's Cooperative Education Program during the spring 2022 semester. In the Cooperative Education Program, students alternate periods of full-time study with periods of full-time employment. This program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student. While in school, students carry regular course schedules. While on co-op, they work with professionals in their fields who supervise their training and work. At work, co-op students earn competitive salaries and may receive benefit packages in addition to valuable job experience. Participants maintain their full-time student status while at work and have priority registration status each semester through graduation.

A total of 11,979 students enrolled during the fall 2021 term at The University of Alabama were named to the dean's list with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the president's list with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's).

During fall 2021, the MAcc students evaluated a recently published FASB exposure draft, "Proposed Accounting Standards Update - Fair Value Measurement (Topic 820): Fair Value Measurement of Equity Securities Subject to Contractual Sale Restrictions."

Alabama Soccer's Reyna Reyes Earns United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Team Honors The junior was named a second team honoree, becoming just the third Crimson Tide student-athlete in program history to be selected for the academic award

Fourteen UA students have been awarded the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to participate in study abroad programs.

A University of Alabama student and alumnus were among 41 Americans selected to study in the United Kingdom through the prestigious Marshall Scholarship.

Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, welcomed 1,128 new initiates from 41 universities during November 2021. Students initiated into the Society must be sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate/professional students in the top 35% of their class, demonstrate leadership experience in at least one of the five pillars, and embrace the ODK ideals. Fewer than five percent of students on a campus are invited to join each year.

The College of Human Environmental Sciences hosted the 12th annual Fashion for Life runway show at the Bama Theatre Nov. 21. This year's fashion show featured 13 senior apparel design students' collections that represented their personal design philosophy and target market.
