Seven students from The University of Alabama interned in Washington, DC this summer as part of the inaugural class of Capitol Scholars. Fourteen total students across the UA System were chosen for the program.

Zachary Cole was selected for the 2025 Douglass-O'Connell Global Internship in Ireland. Over 500 students applied, but only 12 were selected.

Rolland Grady, Crossroads Civic Engagement Center intern and president of the student organization UA Vote Everywhere, was a guest of the White House on National Voter Registration Day to participate in a Roundtable on Youth Civic Engagement.

The University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences recently welcomed the 2024 class of the Tuscaloosa Rural Pre-Medical Internship, a summer program for college students in pre-medical studies who are interested in rural primary care.

University of Alabama graduate student Miykael Stith has been selected for the prestigious Television Academy Foundation Internship Program. He is one of just 40 students chosen by Television Academy members from across the country for the 2024 Summer Internship Program. The Foundation offers paid internships at top Hollywood studios and production companies annually to college students nationwide.

The Department of Advertising and Public Relations (A+PR), in cooperation with Confidant, the creative and strategic communications agency, has recognized student Hailey Castillo with a scholarship and a summer internship.

Emily Rodriguez joins The University of Alabama Center for Economic Development (UACED) as a Student Research Assistant. UACED works to enhance the economic well-being of Alabama communities by providing technical assistance and linkages to resources.

Several University of Alabama students got hands-on experience serving in media and production roles as UA was host to the fourth Republican Presidential Debate on Dec. 6.

At the end of her first year at the University of Alabama, Kasia Nicholson, an 18-year-old Camden native, was selected for an internship in the office of another prominent Wilcox County native: Gov. Kay Ivey.

University of Alabama Online student Amber Manitowabi-Huebner selected as a Brave Heart Fellow by the Aspen Institute's Center for Native American Youth.

Micah Presley, a recent graduate of The University of Alabama, has received a John S. McCain Strategic Defense Fellowship through the U.S. Department of Defense.

Close to 300 University of Alabama students are receiving a hands-on educational experience at more than 60 companies and organizations through UA's Cooperative Education Program during fall 2017. In the Cooperative Education Program, students alternate periods of full-time study with periods of full-time employment. This program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student. The experience enhances the students' employment prospects after graduation. While in school, students carry regular course schedules. While on co-op, they work with professionals in their fields who supervise their training and work. At work, co-op students earn competitive salaries and may receive benefit packages in addition to valuable on-the-job experience. Students maintain their full-time student status while at work and have priority registration status each semester through graduation.

Two students in the Honors College at UA have been selected as recipients of the Jean O'Connor-Snyder Internship for 2017. The internship is a statewide interdisciplinary program administered by the David Mathews Center for Civic Life in partnership with universities and community partners across Alabama. The two interns will spend June and July working in rural Marion, Alabama, on immersive, community-based projects.
