This fall, 152 University of Alabama students are receiving hands-on, innovative and advanced educational experiences with dozens of companies and organizations across the United States through UA's Cooperative Education Program during the fall 2023 semester. In the Cooperative Education Program, students alternate periods of full-time study with periods of full-time employment. This program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student. While in school, students carry regular course schedules. While on co-op, they work with professionals in their fields who supervise their training and work. At work, co-op students earn competitive salaries and may receive benefit packages in addition to valuable job experience. Participants maintain their full-time student status while at work and have priority registration status each semester through graduation.

Students who traveled ranged from grad students to undergrads. A little over half of the students were art history or studio art majors; the rest were majors in a variety of fields, from psychology to engineering, business, and nursing.

Alabama's Nick Dunlap Named to 2023 United States Walker Cup Team. Dunlap, who has had a strong summer showing, is currently ranked No 10 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

Four University of Alabama Adapted Athletics students represented the U.S. in the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation World Championships in Dubai in June where Team USA earned the bronze medal.

UA Adapted Athletics wheelchair basketball player Lindsey Zurbrugg has one more accolade to add to her collection of national championship trophies and World Championship medals. She was recently selected to represent the Cracker Jack brand as its national "Cracker Jill."

Rhyan White to Represent Team USA at World Aquatics Championships. White will compete at the international competition in Fukuoka, Japan, July 22-30.

Enzo Aguiard To Represent Australia at World University Games. The tennis competition will begin July 29 in Chengdu, China.

At the end of her first year at the University of Alabama, Kasia Nicholson, an 18-year-old Camden native, was selected for an internship in the office of another prominent Wilcox County native: Gov. Kay Ivey.

Mercy Chelangat Named CSC First Team Academic All-American. The announcement marks the second time in Chelangat's legendary career she was selected by the organization for Academic All-America honors.

Students from Minerva, The University of Alabama's Advertising and Public Relations' graduate portfolio program, won Silver at the national American Advertising Awards in June. The campaign, titled "Spotify Audiobooks - Sincerely," marks the profile program's first national win in five years.

A total of 516 students enrolled in UA Early College during spring semester 2023 at The University of Alabama were named to the director's list with an academic record of 3.6 (or higher).

A total of 12,487 students enrolled during Spring Semester 2023 at The University of Alabama were named to the dean's list with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the president's list with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). These driven students are making waves across UA's more than 70 undergraduate programs and 12 colleges and schools.

Alabama's Benedetta Moresco Named CSC Academic All-American. Moresco, who earned second-team honors, becomes first women's golfer named as an Academic All-American since 2018.

The University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences recently welcomed the second class of the Tuscaloosa Rural Pre-Medical Internship, a program for college students in pre-medical studies who are interested in rural primary care practice.

Eleven University of Alabama students are among a field of 42 contestants set to compete for the title of Miss Alabama June 28-July 1 at Samford University in Birmingham.

University of Alabama students Sydney Aldrich, of Helena; Aurora Baker, of St. Louis; and Kylie Overton, of Brentwood, Tennessee, are the recipients of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship.

A recent economic analysis found that a degree from The University of Alabama can pay more over time than investments in U.S. stock market indexes. The University provides numerous opportunities for service and growth through its educational, social and cultural experiences.

The UA Department of Art and Art History is proud to announce our scholarship award recipients for the upcoming academic year, 2023-2024. Graduates, undergraduates and incoming freshmen in our degree programs in studio art, art history and our new BFA degree in graphic design were awarded over $140,000 in scholarships, thanks to our generous donors.
