The UA Department of Art and Art History announced the five recipients of our Outstanding Student Awards for the academic year 2022-2023 during Honors Day ceremonies in recognition of their exemplary dedication and commitment to academic achievement. These awards are the department's most prestigious of the year, given only to a graduate and an undergraduate major in art history and studio art, and to an undergraduate major in graphic design.

Eight total student-athletes spanning across the Alabama track and field and cross country programs were named to the College Sports Communicators' Track and Field/Cross Country Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Wednesday.

Golf, Gymnastics, Rowing Members Named to CSC Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team. Gymnastics' Luisa Blanco, Lilly Hudson and Mati Waligora, along with golf's Benedetta Moresco and rowing's Gianna Rucki earned All-District honors.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, today announced the recipients of a 2023 Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant. The $1,000 grants were awarded to 125 students across the nation.

The Student Government Association at The University of Alabama recently held its annual SGA Awards banquet where several students were recognized for their contributions to the SGA and their service to UA's campus community.

Alabama Athletics Duo Maas, Mitchell Named Brad Davis Community Service Leaders of the Year Winner. Crimson Tide men's swimmer Derek Maas and gymnast Sania Mitchell are among 28 (14 men and 14 women) named to the SEC community service postgraduate award list.

This summer, 201 University of Alabama students are receiving hands-on, innovative and advanced educational experiences with dozens of companies and organizations across the United States through UA's Cooperative Education Program during the summer 2023 semester. In the Cooperative Education Program, students alternate periods of full-time study with periods of full-time employment. This program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student. While in school, students carry regular course schedules. While on co-op, they work with professionals in their fields who supervise their training and work. At work, co-op students earn competitive salaries and may receive benefit packages in addition to valuable job experience. Participants maintain their full-time student status while at work and have priority registration status each semester through graduation.

Undergraduate students at The University of Alabama rigorously pursue research and creative avenues outside the classroom, and this year's Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference showcased and recognized their efforts. This year's winners of the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference at The University of Alabama highlight the ingenuity and dedication of those who rigorously pursued research and creative avenues outside the classroom. The premier research event to highlight undergraduate research at UA spurs interest in research among undergraduate students and helps students polish their communication skills.

C&IS doctoral students Joshua Jackson and LaTonya Taylor have been named as SEC Emerging Scholars Program Fellows for the 2023-2024 academic year.

The Cleophus Thomas Award is awarded by the the Black Faculty and Staff Association to the graduating seniors with the highest academic standing honoring the legacy of the first Black SGA president of The University of Alabama.

The purpose of Omicron Delta Kappa is to recognize those students who have attained high standards in collegiate activities, to inspire others to strive for similar attainments, and to bring together students in all areas of college life: scholarship; athletics; campus or community service; social and religious activities; campus government; journalism, speech and mass media; and creative and performing arts.

Mortar Board, a national honor society for men and women, is based on leadership, scholarship and service. It is one of the highest honors that can be granted to seniors. Members must display outstanding dedication to service and leadership.

Capstone Men and Women serve as the official ambassadors of The University of Alabama. The class of 2023-2024 has been selected and is eager to serve UA's visitors and guests. The group assists the President's Office, Office of Undergraduate Admissions and National Alumni Association in providing tours to prospective students, parents and other campus guests.

The University of Alabama honored the achievement of numerous students, faculty and staff during the annual Tapping on the Mound ceremony April 7.

The University of Alabama National Alumni Association recently recognized the recipients of their top awards. The purpose of the Alumni Student Award is to honor seniors who have excelled in academics and extracurricular activities, shown strength of character and maturity, and displayed exceptional hospitality toward guests and friends of the UA.

Blue Key is a premier honor society that recognizes college students for balanced and all-around excellence in scholarship, leadership and service.

Anderson Society, a senior honorary, was founded at UA in 1975 and seeks to promote excellence in student leadership and service as well as high academic standards. Each year, 24 members are selected in recognition of their significant contributions to the University.
