Winter 2016 Graduates Announced at UA
The University of Alabama awarded some 2,270 degrees during winter commencement Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016. With this graduating class, UA will have awarded more than 257,000 degrees since its founding in 1831 as the state's first public university.

UA Student Named Finalist in PRWeek's PR Student of the Year
After having been named a top-five finalist in the PRWeek PR Student of the Year in January, Katie Gatti will be traveling to New York in March as a top-two finalist for the award.

UA Grad Students Win Three-Minute Thesis Competiton
The University of Alabama recently held the final round of its annual Three Minute Thesis competition, and a graduate student in the department of educational studies in psychology, research, methodology and counseling took home first place honors.

UA Students Win First Environmental Research Competition
Two students in the department of geological sciences recently received $5,000 by winning the first University of Alabama Outstanding Research Competition. The competition funds theses and dissertations that perform cutting-edge research related to the assessment and treatment of chemical contaminants in soil and groundwater.
