The University of Alabama celebrated the achievements of students, faculty and staff during the annual Tapping on the Mound ceremony April 3.

The Cleophus Thomas Award is awarded by the the Black Faculty and Staff Association to the graduating seniors with the highest academic standing honoring the legacy of the first Black SGA president of The University of Alabama.

The purpose of Omicron Delta Kappa is to recognize those students who have attained high standards in collegiate activities, to inspire others to strive for similar attainments, and to bring together students in all areas of college life: scholarship; athletics; campus or community service; social and religious activities; campus government; journalism, speech and mass media; and creative and performing arts.

Anderson Society, a senior honorary, was founded at UA in 1975 and seeks to promote excellence in student leadership and service as well as high academic standards.

Mortar Board, a national honor society for men and women, is based on leadership, scholarship and service. It is one of the highest honors that can be granted to seniors. Members must display outstanding dedication to service and leadership.

A partnership between the College of Human Environmental Sciences and Augusta National Golf Club in which CHES allowed students to work during the Masters Tournament, professional golf's premier event, in roles that include hospitality as servers and bartenders, merchandising, and operations.

The Capstone Men and Women for 2026-2027 have been selected and are eager to serve UA's visitors and guests as the official ambassadors of The University of Alabama. The group assists the President's Office, Office of Undergraduate Admissions and National Alumni Association in providing tours to prospective students, parents and other campus guests.

The president, executive council and 49 senators representing all of UA's colleges and schools will serve the campus community through spring 2027.

The Manderson Case Team won this year's Race & Case competition, hosted by the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver. Teams earned points through both their case presentation and a ski race in Breckenridge, Colorado.

Because of a collaboration between Central Alabama Veterans Collaborative and Culverhouse LIFT, UA students are helping veterans learn digital technology. LIFT is an outreach initiative, directed by Lisa McKinney, senior instructor of accounting, that deploys UA students to serve communities in the Tuscaloosa and Birmingham areas. LIFT students engage with CAVC to help veterans navigate the challenges of digital technology, whether accessing VA digital records, pairing a phone with a new car, or creating a spreadsheet to track small business profit and loss.

Alabama football's Bray Hubbard and Kadyn Proctor were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Team, the organization announced Tuesday.

A total of 15,388 students enrolled during Fall Semester 2025 at The University of Alabama were named to the dean's list with an academic record of 3.5 (or above) or the president's list with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's). These driven students are making waves across UA's more than 70 undergraduate programs and 12 colleges and schools.
